It Started With a Simple Struggle

For us, it was the daily challenge of getting our baby warm and comfortable before heading outside.
I found myself constantly frustrated with traditional jackets: wrestling with zippers, managing layers, and watching my little one squirm in discomfort. Something that should have been simple often felt unnecessarily hard. There had to be a better way.
Returning To My Roots
I grew up in Ecuador, where ponchos were a part of everyday life. They were simple, practical, and easy. They’re designed to provide warmth without restricting movement.
When we had our baby a family member gifted us a poncho for him. I tried it on my child more out of curiosity than anything else. What happened next changed everything.
The moment I slipped it over my baby’s head, I felt the difference. I realized how effortless it was. The wide head opening meant no struggling, no fussing. Just instant warmth and freedom to move. My baby was comfortable and calm. No zippers, no layers, no frustration.
That single moment reminded me how powerful simple design can be,and inspired me to share it with more families in the U.S.
Our Mission
At Wawa, our mission is to create thoughtfully designed essentials that make everyday life with little ones easier. We focus on pieces that are simple to use, soft on delicate skin, and designed to move freely with growing children. Inspired by traditional ponchos and real-life parenting needs, we design our products in small batches in Ecuador focusing on comfort, simplicity, and everyday ease. So parents can spend less time struggling with clothing and more time enjoying the moment.
